For any public presentation of a film protected by the law of author, a license must be issued by an authorized representative. As a Canadian representative of many major studios and producers, we issue licenses annual screening that allow many types of organizations present films protected by copyright, without violating the Canada health act copyright, which stipulates that any public presentation of a film protected by copyright, a license must be issued by an authorized representative under the laws.

The property of a film and the right to present it publicly are two different issues. The rental or purchase of a film does not give the right to publicly projecting outside the home, unless the place where the film is projected to be duly protected by a public performance license issued by a representative. The legal requirements apply, regardless of whether or not it requires an entrance fee, regardless of whether it's a federal, provincial or local, whether the institution or organization is commercial or nonprofit.
