Synopsis
The people of Detroit know 8 Mile as the city limits, a border, and a boundary. It is also a psychological dividing line that separates Jimmy Smith Jr. (Eminem) from where and who he wants to be. 8 Mile is a provocative fictional examination of a critical week in Jimmy’s life, starring multi-platinum recording artist Eminem in his first leading role in a feature film, along with Kim Basinger (L.A. Confidential) as Jimmy’s mother, Mekhi Phifer (O, Shaft), Brittany Murphy (Don’t Say A Word) and Eugene Byrd (Dead Man). Academy Award® winner Curtis Hanson (Wonder Boys, L.A. Confidential) directs 8 Mile, produced by this year's Academy Award® winner Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind), Hanson and Jimmy Iovine from an original screenplay by Scott Silver. Eminem collaborates with Dr. Dre on the music for the film and soundtrack .

Music (Song)
"Eminem has a quietly smouldering presence, with a sullen charisma that suggest a James Dean in the rough. And when he lashes out, it's electrifying. '8 Mile' goes the distance."
-Brian D. Johnson, Maclean's -
"it's raw, it's intense and it's very engrossing. Exhilarating to watch"
